Mission and Vision
I believe that every leader’s job is to walk-the-walk. It isn’t enough to say it, you have to live it. However, it is also a leader’s job to make sure that the team knows where they are going. To that effect, the mission and vision of an organization provides the map. A mission statement is what the organization is meant to do at its core and a vision statement, the future it creates if performing at an optimal level. The values of the organization provide a compass that guide day-to-day decisions that help the team stay on the road.
Mission
The mission of the Carson City District Attorney's Office is to seek justice and protect the public trust. We seek to protect the public through ethical and fair prosecutions that prioritize stopping crime at its root, supporting victims, and personal accountability. We provide effective and accurate representation of Carson City departments in a manner that reflects our values of government transparency and fiscal responsibility.
Vision
To create a community that has unwavering confidence in its justice system and government.
Values
Justice- We seek to do the right thing in all instances and believe that the ends does not justify the means. We must seek just outcomes only through ethical, principled action.
Truth- We seek to know and understand the truth in every step of our process and that we act in accordance with what we learn.
Integrity- We act in a way that is consistent with our values whether no one knows or everyone knows.
Accountability- We are responsible to each other for our actions and inactions and we believe holding someone accountable is an action taken out of deep care for our community and a tireless belief that we must improve. We believe in accountability for all, starting with ourselves.
Collaboration- We work with other government departments, non-profits, businesses, and other entities to overcome our differences and produce the best outcome for the public.
Innovation- We work towards new and innovative ideas that help us meet our mission, more efficiently use government resources, and serve the public.
Community- We recognize that we are a part of Carson City and while many may not see our daily work, that work is for everyone in our community.
Service- We believe that nothing is beneath us and that we must work to the best of our abilities to serve the public. When confronted with a problem, our question is “What can we do to help?”
